Creating a blog and only write about blogging – how smart is that? Well for someone like me, for whom current affairs is all about Siddharth Mallya’s love affair with Deepika Padukone and the most prestigious award is Karan Johar’s gift hamper, blogging is not a bad choice of subject at all (this way I can discreetly hide my ignorance). You tell me where will I get new and interesting topics for my posts? Anyway, this was supposed to be my backup post for last week to make up for the poor response which my previous post received, but owing to my exemplary procrastination, I couldn’t complete it on time. You will have tears in your eyes now when I tell you that I got only three votes in an entire day last week, that too on the second day itself. I visited all three blogs and the third blog was in Tamil; however, after closing the page, out of habit I clicked on that promote button. Now I have to tell everyone “yup, I can read Tamil
”. I hope that post was not about a kidnapping plan for Rajnikanth. Albeit it’s not a major concern for me as there were nine others who voted for it; all North Indians, Jai Hind. BTW if you are one of those nine people then quickly find out a Tamil Language Center for both of us or we need to sweep it under the carpet.
Talking about voting and commenting, I like photoblogs. It takes five seconds to view the picture and ten seconds to give your unvarnished opinion – “nice capture” (recently learnt and put into practice). Oh yes, did you notice my new profile picture? I have done some engineering with it again
; cannot help it. Hope it doesn’t scare away my visitors (I have already lost too many regular visitors and this post will only exacerbate the situation). I love to explore the tools available on the dashboard; the only option which I abhor is “write a new post”. Unfortunately wordpress does not allow any HTML research work. This is bit of a downer after the riveting experience I had of manhandling blogger template. When I bid adieu to my blogspot blog leaving it in abject-disarray, the home page looked more like a Valentine’s Day card.
I actually wanted to find out how many genuine readers I have but later changed my mind as it sounded little conflicting to my approach towards blogging. Beggars cannot be choosers and I have already established my credibility as one; no no not chooser….. ummm….I mean the other one. I strongly believe in the philosophy that when it comes to traffic, begging is the most effective tool. So if you are an obligatory visitor, please continue to read, you are the best! You endure all the pain with a smiling face, you are no less than a freedom fighter. In case you forget, I will keep reminding you via comments, mails, sms and/or personal visits.
You know what? I need to find an alternate option to kill time, cannot depend on my stupid blog anymore especially when activities drop significantly after 48 hours, also I don’t see my blog surviving for a long time as my ADD is taking effect. I think I have completely screwed up this one, probably have to rewrite the entire post now. Not that it will become one epic saga but still, I have nothing to do, let’s see.
Now what do I have as an entertainment option? News, cricket, movies and serials, all courtesy that same old idiot box (finally it is justifying its name). Watching movies in theatre would be no less than an adventure here as we have only 2 dilapidated theatres and both look haunted. There have been talks of couple of multiplexes coming up (don’t know how far it’s true), but do we look like the kind of people who would pay 150 rupees to watch a movie? Bullshit! They will have no other option but to convert those into marriage halls. Ok so let’s review these idiot box options:
- News: Your grocery shop guy will anyway give an account of all the absorbing stories e.g. Sharad Pawar’s cheeks being exposed to an unfamiliar touch or George Bush getting more concerned about shoe missiles than cruise missiles or a movie being made specifically for that coveted Oscar award with a winning combination of slums, poverty, brutality, and a foreign director. So why waste time?
- Cricket: Ain’t they playing the same shots for last couple of centuries now? Height of monotony. Yes there was a time when we attended the school while Gavaskar was on the verge of scoring a hundred, the school teachers looked as irksome as Gabbar Singh. But things have changed. It’s been 20 years since I have seen my school and Gavaskar has to sit next to Navjyot Singh Siddhu in the commentary box now. He has more reasons to be nostalgic than me.
- Movies (on television, yup): I liked how it was earlier. Movies were dumb, we were dumb, everything was dumb and we were happy. When that exaggeratedly innocent Hema Malini was confronted by four goons on a deserted road while she was returning home buying vegetables, we didn’t question which vegetable shop was open at 2 O’clock in the night. And then there was a deafening outbursts of applause and whistles when Dharmendra came out of the manhole breaking the lid to save her. Did we for once question what was he doing inside the manhole all this while?
- Serials: A killer option but I prefer reality shows. If you ever have a feud with someone and you lose an argument then don’t worry; come home, watch an episode of any of those reality shows, and go back and continue from where you left. This time you will shine. Please note, wearing a sardonic smile all the time is absolutely mandatory.
Anyway, found my mp3 player which I was frantically searching for past few days. My two kittens were brushing their soccer skills with that. Now I am going to play some cheap, catchy numbers (you know my taste, right?), stand in the middle of the road and emulate this legendary dancer:
However, for advanced level dancers, I would highly recommend the following dance form:
Do you know why I have mentioned image source? So that if they decide to shut down a site because of this image, let them shut down ‘The Hindu’. Why should my blog suffer? I have an astounding number of 22 posts here, out of which 3 were guest posts for another site and 2 bragging about couple of awards for my outstanding contribution to the literary world, conferred by two visionaries who never visited my ……..ahem ahem (don’t worry they are not reading this either). But I took it in the right spirit, the spirit of driving traffic, and shamelessly wrote two posts expressing my gratitude towards them and managed to increase the number of visitors. You must be wondering how can someone spread so much of negativity with just one post? Well I can, that’s my area of expertise.
Anyway, another timepass option would be to do the same experiment which Rakesh Roshan did in Koi Mil Gaya. In fact, my system looks more like the one used by him in that movie, so it should work. Yes, I am going to do that, I am going to call Jadoo.

I am just wondering, what’s this post is all about ? lol…
In between you look like WWF Undertaker or some hippie guy…
This is Monday, i can judge that without seeing my calendar..
THE END
Regarding post:

Lovely post and i enjoyed that commenting on PHOTO blog part, we have no option than that
Don’t go for any coaching class,i will help you to learn Tamil, then you can walk talk run TAMIL
You are back with a bang
-Dee..
i need to learn a few languages so that i can peacefully vote for everything.
thanx for reading.
I realised yesterday I was calling you Divyanshu..lol..:D
Don’t crib about your blog’s traffic ok?..I’m going into depression everytime I write a post..My last post has got 6 Comments, of which 2 or 3 are mine!!!..I’m jealous of you, and you act like this..!..I’m thinking of creating fake ids and comment on my blog saying, “Excellent post”,”Very nice” and stuff like that..You also do it if you want
..
Atleast I faithfully read your posts, you don’t even read mine.. I don’t like all that promoting business in Indiblogger, I’m sure not one person has read my blog..Anyway, Nice pic..Your wish to scare away people will be fulfilled
i have no problem with promotion business
. it has many advantages.
you dont need to create fake ids, just use different mail ids. its ok even if its not urs. u can put amitabh bachchan’s mail id.
i did read ur post but wasn’t able to comment because of ur captcha.
Your readers come here to read what you write, not to vote. Having your post voted for does not mean you have to go and vote for their post too!! I have a couple of readers who promote my posts frequently, but I can rarely do the same for their blogs since I cannot get past the first few lines in Hindi (or techie for that matter). One of the saddest things in blogging and reading blogs is to come across a fine blog that has been abandoned. I know you will not let that happen to your writing. For times when you are stuck with what do I write – http://goo.gl/ko8bj
PS: Nice new pic out there.
a return visit is something which i always follow. its like responding to a “hello” from ur friend. there are many sad and cheap tactics applied by few bloggers which i loathe more. as far as voting is concerned, who decides how much a post needs to be liked in order to vote or how much it has to be read? do u like all the posts u vote for?
yes there are few outstanding blogs which are abandoned by people and to an extent they r responsible for that.
thanx for the link, i have bookmarked it. thanx for complimenting my pic
.
and thanx for ur visit as always. i do value a fellow blogger like u
Dude, you are a genius. Need to learn from you, how to create something out of nothing!
And btw your page views are way better than mine. I get around 1,500 views per month, excluding my own page views. I’m pretty sure you get much more than mine.
Nice pictures, really cracked me up
And I am also your regular visitor, right?
thanx a lot akshay. yes u r a regular visitor. no my page views are much less than that
.
How do 46 comments make a poor response? And wow, you get 2-3 visitors and/or votes everyday. I cannot tell you how many time I look at site stats and the number refuses to budge above 0. Take heart, my dear friend. We can always say, we write for the love of the written word and not votes and comments. Best of all, in one of your posts, get all angst ridden and say “yeh duniya, yeh blogging mere kaam ki nahi” (aka I’m shutting down this blog because I can’t jhelo sharing my pain etc) and watch the comments and the visitors pour in
thats in the pipeline
i am planning to write a regular post with a title “my last post”
and u were counting my comments but u forgot to exclude my replies.
i dont write for the love of the written word, i hate writing shhhhhhhhhh. i want people to visit my blog and chill out, click on the links etc
Even with replies, you have 23 comments which is 22 more than I get on most of my posts
This post of mine is not heading in the right direction
may be i really need to be careful with what i write, use a little discretion, anyway thats always been a problem with me.
talking bout ur posts, i do keep a track of how many comments u get although u deserve more. but next time i m planning to comment with multiple ids, so no worries.
that was quite an awesome post and fast paced….
loved every bit of it especially the first para where you talk about all the tamil blog promotion..thank god i was not the one to hit the button
don’t know about others DG but i won’t lose interest in your reading and would continue to go through each of your posts and make genuine comments there!!!
happy blogging…
liked the clip of Sunny and the pic ….
regards
rahul
thank u so much rahul. awesome comment
.
happy blogging.
You are just becoming greedy by the day. 70-80 votes and some 20-40 comments are insufficient for you.
Look at so many other ppl, including me.. Hardly even there!
actually u r right. but i dont like a declining trend
so u continue to read and comment.
Methinks you protest do much
i just wanted to write something
. check out my next post, it will be all peace and happiness.
Are u complaining about the number of comments/readers you have?? Seriously??
And don’t give up blogging, it’s a better entertainment option than all of your other alternatives! Don’t u think??
I am curious, how does this come so effortlessly to you. I feel like you cough up whatever comes to ur mind and I spend days contemplating what to write!!
I am jealous!!
the only thing which i like about blogging is the new comment notification. but the problem with blogging is that i have to write.
if i had writing skills like u, i wud have written 5 posts everyday. and i love ur comments. makes me happy
I hope they listen to you and do what you have said shut the os called big media places .. which hardly put proper news …
The picture brought a chukle , that woman is some minister or something if i am not wrong..
I have met people over this blog world who have actually gone ahead and made loads of fake ids and they comment on there own blogs .. and then they also send emails to all they know asking rather begging them to vote or comment on there posts , to win prizes
First time i am reading a article from you and it looks great well I am no one to say anything on that , but to me it is much much better then mine for sure … Great going
take care
Bikram’s
yes that lady is a politician.
and thank u so much for these wonderful words and btw this is not the first article of mine which u have read
. u have already commented on one of my earlier posts.
and dude u get like 200 comments. even with fake ids i wudn’t be able to achieve that ever.
Yeah…now I write.
I don’t see a central idea in this post, yet you made me want to actually read till the very end of it. I really do like your style of writing and energy.
Sometimes, all I wanna do is read light stuff like this. You just got yourself a new subscriber, my fren.
hey thank u so much, wasn’t expecting a comment at this time.
well there is nothing in this post
, just wanted to submit something to keep myself occupied.
i do envy people who write subject-based posts but cannot do anything about it. have to rely on light stuff as my knowledge is limited. this is just a timepass blog
thanx for ur visit
Don’t worry about the indiblogger votes. And if you do care about them, start voting like a maniac-for the karela-tamatar recipe, temples in Kerala, Tamil, Telegu, Hindi….anything goes!
Love how you use the images
thanx purba. great to see ur comment here.
but i like indivotes
Wow…akshay is right…you did manage to write out of nothing and that’s something great at least for me…
Love your style:))
hey thanx deepa. so i do have few visitors
and for everyone’s convenience i m going to reduce the length of my posts from the next one. happy blogging
Now,now; if ever anybody fished for compliments you do…am i jealous? teach me this skill.
and thank u so much for ur comment. now the comment count looks ok
although i wud love to have another 20, but thats fine.
and i m following ur blog these days. so from now on my posts r going to be about positivity and happiness. i m going to implement everything that i m learning from ur blog.
HA HA HA God bless you.
this is my first visit to your blog and first time i read a post contains everything from news to politics
as far as that tamil thing concerned it happens some time with me not on indiblogger but on some other blogs where i commented without reading and after that i came to know “ohhh its shayari not a poem”
anwyas nice blog
don’t worry i will be your new regular viewer as you are in my network at Indiblogger and you will get atleast my vote for your post
http://drivingwithpen.blogspot.com/
thank u so much for ur comment. i was planning to visit ur blog for past few days but cudn’t do that. anyway i ll make sure that i go through ur blog soon. thanx again.
i get it -u r not named divine flame for nothing ..there lies the secret…i m also moon,so i will catch up with u one day….wait n watch!!!!!!!!!
absolutely.
and ur comments are supercool, i wish i cud comment like that. my comments only irritate ppl
Not me.
cool
Been there done that
I have had my fair share of “nice read”, “nice photograph” comments and it used to annoy me a lot. Gradually, those bloggers understood I wouldn’t care much to return their visits if that is how they are going to behave. Hence, sincere readership, or so I believe
Blogging is quite personal for that matter. I actually enjoyed reading this post, it was funny in it’s own silly way.
I avoid promoting blogs which I do not like
~ Chintan
great to see ur comment here. i have high regards for u as a blogger and thank u for liking my post. my comment count increased a bit
Like all great masters, you know what you are doing (and not doing) with your blog. You never fail to entertain and that alone is a virtue. you know, there is a dead sea of writing out there waiting for the unsuspecting reader. Keep it up, Man.
thank u so much for these kind words. honestly, my writing doesn’t deserve so much of praise.
btw i read ur last post and didn’t know what to write on the comment form.
I was upset. I don’t know if I should have posted that.
i think thats what blog is there for. its our diary and if we cannot express our feelings there then there is no point in having a blog. it was a heart wrenching post and when someone like u writes it, it becomes a masterpiece.
Hey Deb, I have nominated you for the versatile blogger award. Hope you would like it.
http://akkishaki.blogspot.com/2012/01/versatile-blogger-award.html
hey thank u so much Akshay. Rest of my comment will be on ur blog
didnt read the whole thing…got bored but love the pix
edited my previous comment
i understand, even i get bored at times while reading long posts and just see the pics and come out
(especially if those posts r as bad as this one
)
thank u so much for visiting
the entertainment options shred to pieces & beautifully so
the images u put up add to the hilarity of your posts esp when i imagine u in one of those poses
nicely written but i am being repetitive here ain’t I?
no u r not being repetitive
plz continue with such wonderful comments
thank u
A very interesting post. I was having a discussion with a friend about the lack of votes on my blog and was told that I need to interact with people to get more people to my blog. Sigh…it is a vicious circle.
Really enjoyed your backup post. It was entertaining, made some sense but still was senseless
it is a vicious circle
thank u so much for ur visit and ur comment. thats the only reason why i write a post
